Heart Health Screenings
What is a heart health screening?
Sister to Sister’s Heart Health Screenings include:
- Risk assessment questionnaire
- Blood pressure check
- Finger prick, blood test to determine lipids (LDL, HDL and triglycerides) and glucose
- Height, weight, waist circumference and body mass index (BMI) measurements
- On-the-spot screening results
Sister to Sister provides heart health screenings in cities around the country.
What if I can't attend the health fair?
For women who are unable to attend one of our events or don't live in a city where there is a screening event, talk to your physician or health care provider about getting a heart health screening. Ask them to:
- Inform you about risk factors for heart disease
- Give you the normal ranges for key risks such as:
- Blood pressure
- Lipid levels (LDL, HDL and triglycerides)
- Blood sugar or glucose
- Body mass index
- Waist circumference
